Finding the right keywords to get started

I have already mentioned that setting up a web site or a blog and plugging in Google Adsense ads is an easier way to get started when you are wondering how make money from home .

But having said that, I can well understand, that you are not too sure about the topic you want to blog about or create a web site. Some gurus suggest that you follow your passion. But that doesn’t work out most of the times. Either your passion may not have much commercial interests or sometimes it’s just the opposite – too much competition. Competition is good because it shows that people are making money from that particular topic (also known as niche in the internet marketing world) but I wouldn’t recommend at this point of time when you are just getting started.

The best strategy would be to do some research before you actually pick your niche. If you are passionate about something try that before everything else. See if there are enough searches and considerable commerciality. If the results are positive you are in luck; you are not far away from making money from home. But if not there are loads of other stuffs to pick from. Go through web sites like ebay.com, Amazon and you will get a lot of ideas to start with. Whenever you stumble upon something note it and check ( with Google Adwords Keywords Tool) if there are enough searches. Adwords will return with many other related keywords which are all potential candidates for your niche. You an also try the Wordtracker Gtrend Tool to find out a perfect niche to start with. You can also manually check the competitiveness of each of the keywords by the “phrased search” method described in my earlier post.

Actually you need to select a group of closely related keywords. For example if “make money online” is your main keyword or rather key phrase, then you must also emphasize on some other related key words or key phrases like how to make money online, online money making, how to make money online from home etc. etc. By the way, this is only an example. Online money making or making money from home are way too competitive phrases to start with. But I think you have got the idea.
